2025 Ford Mustang GTD: The Wildest ‘Pony’ Yet Inspired by Le Mans

Ford introduces the most ferocious incarnation of the iconic American muscle car. The Ford Mustang GTD takes inspiration from the Mustang GT3, set to compete at Le Mans next year, boasting a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing over 800 horsepower.

In a remarkable display of automotive ingenuity, a collaborative effort that began in 2021 has culminated in the creation of a Mustang poised to challenge the supremacy of Europe’s top supercars. The outcome of this ambitious endeavor is the highly anticipated Ford Mustang GTD 2025.

This audacious venture commenced with the aspiration of returning the Mustang GT3 to Le Mans next year, transforming it into the ultimate expression of the Mustang lineup, encompassing both road-legal vehicles and competition machines.

Two years of relentless innovation by Ford have given birth to the unparalleled Ford Mustang GTD 2025. An exclusive limited edition model, it exudes a distinctive racing heritage, formidable capabilities, and an exceptional emphasis on carbon fiber construction.

Centrally poised within its carbon fiber framework is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, churning out a staggering 800+ horsepower. This powerhouse is harnessed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, achieves a near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, and is anchored by Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.

Exemplifying the epitome of ferocity and finesse, the Ford Mustang GTD’s meticulously crafted design serves both form and function. From the front splitter to the captivating hood air intakes and the aerodynamic rear spoiler with hydraulic control, each line orchestrates the car’s track performance.

The extensive integration of carbon fiber, witnessed in components such as the hood, bumpers, trunk lid, rear diffuser, and front splitter, significantly reduces weight, thereby enhancing agility and responsiveness by lowering the center of gravity.

For those seeking a heightened aerodynamic experience, an optional package introduces additional carbon fiber elements, including a hydraulically controlled front spoiler, working in tandem with the active rear spoiler to achieve an aerodynamic equilibrium.

The interior of the Ford Mustang GTD 2025 is a fusion of racing excellence and opulence. Recaro circuit-optimized seats, 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters, shift lever, and a numbered plaque commemorating its exclusivity, all fabricated from titanium derived from the Lockheed Martin F-22, form the core of the cockpit.

A marriage of premium materials such as Miko suede, leather, and carbon fiber, envelop the cabin in luxury. Digital displays provide the requisite technological edge expected in modern automobiles, while the omission of rear seats contributes to the vehicle’s weight reduction strategy.

Nestled beneath the carbon fiber hood resides a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 heart, characterized by twin air intakes and a dry sump system – a first for the Mustang. Emitting a symphony through a titanium active-valve exhaust system, this powerplant unleashes more than 800 horsepower, effortlessly reaching upwards of 7,500 RPM.

Production of the Ford Mustang GTD 2025 will take place at the Ford facility in Flat Rock, Michigan, with a limited production run. The final assembly and meticulous craftsmanship will continue at the Multimatic facility in Markham, Canada, overseen jointly by Ford Performance and Multimatic, ensuring each masterpiece adheres to the highest standards of excellence.

As anticipation mounts for its release, the Ford Mustang GTD 2025 stands as a testament to American engineering prowess, an audacious leap forward in the Mustang’s storied legacy, poised to capture the hearts of performance enthusiasts worldwide.
