WhatsApp Introduces Screen Lock Feature for Web Beta Version

In its relentless pursuit of bolstering user security and privacy, WhatsApp has taken another significant stride by rolling out a screen lock option for its Web beta version. This innovative feature aims to fortify conversation protection by restricting access through a password.

The world-renowned instant messaging platform has been consistently adding safety-oriented features to enhance user experience. The newly introduced feature, which has been available on the smartphone app since May, is now making its way to the beta version of the web application, marking yet another step towards safeguarding user data.

Users will now have the ability to activate the screen lock function, a move that effectively secures access to their conversations behind a password-protected interface. Upon enabling this feature, users are prompted to input the correct password before gaining entry to their chats. This serves as an additional layer of defense against unauthorized access.

Moreover, users are granted the flexibility to customize when the screen lock password is required. This time interval can be adjusted according to individual preferences. Notably, when the screen lock is active, automatic notifications will not be displayed on the screen, further enhancing the privacy aspect.

In the event that users forget the configured password, a straightforward solution has been provided. By logging out of WhatsApp Web and then logging back in, users can repeat the QR code scanning process, enabling them to regain access to their chats.

To enable the screen lock feature on WhatsApp Web, users need to navigate to the ‘Settings’ menu within the application and then proceed to the ‘Privacy’ section. Here, a ‘Screen Lock’ option will be available, allowing users to activate the feature. Once enabled, users can define their preferred password for unlocking conversations, providing a seamless and user-friendly experience.
